Dunkirk with Mike Scott

At a time of great peril for the British army in Europe, as the forces of Hitler swept all before them in France and the Low Countries, a miracle in a small Channel port and the beaches alongside saved over 300,000 servicemen, though not their equipment, to prepare to fight in defence of the homeland in the summer of 1940. We will never know why the German tanks with their infantry, stopped outside the town of Dunkirk, but it was an opportunity for the small boats and the Royal Navy to rescue a large part of our army and get them safely off the beaches and home to England. Join Mike Scott as you visit the port and surrounding area to tell some of the important stories of this momentous event of WW2.
